Classes

Jackie teaches drawing, painting, and pastel painting at the Yellow Barn Studio in Glen Echo, Maryland. The Yellow Barn Studio is a wonderful community for artists to learn, collaborate, and exhibit their own personal artwork. These are the 2008 classes being offered by Jackie. 2008 Classes

Principles of Drawing

Learn how to draw or to improve rusty drawing skills. Work in a variety of drawing mediums. Focus on principles of drawing including proportion, composition, negative space, and values. Draw from still life and life model. Experiment and collaborate in a creative environment.

Beginning & Intermediate Painting

The main goal of this class is to provide a strong foundation in the basics of studio painting. The instructor will provide students with a working understanding of texture, composition, value, and color theory. Students will gain knowledge while working with the figure, still life and landscape.

Summer Painting Landscape on Location (For the Month of August)

Paint on location at some of the areas' most inspirational places: the Potomac River at Great Falls, the town of Glen Echo, the National Cathedral and downtown Bethesda. Lectures and demonstrations on composition, drawing, value, color and approaches to painting. Mediums include oil, acrylic and pastel. For all levels.

Landscape Pastel Painting

Explore the vibrant colors of the D.C. landscape through the use of chalk pastels. Learn to create the unique textural variations of chalk and oil pastels while painting en plein air. Over the session students will develop the techniques of layering, blending, value and composition. Open to students on all levels.
